Fort Worth, Texas (25 March 2017). U.S. Navy veteran Jack Pena, a UT Arlington graduate student, scored a perfect 3-0 sweep of an eight-player field at the Fort Worth Out Patient Clinic’s 1st Annual Chess Championship (not rated). Three other veterans (Robert Gay, Lawrence Wright and Nick Columbus) tied for 2nd place with 2.0 points each. |
Mr. Tom Crane, the highest ranking chess official (Director of the Texas Chess Association’s Region II) in Tarrant County and President of the Tarrant County Chess Club, made opening remarks. His chess club also donated fourteen chess sets and boards to the Fort Worth Out Patient Clinic.
